While it is more true to Stephen King's original story this film proves that that isn't necessarily a good thing since our heroes are a bickering, unlikeable couple and the ending is a downer. Still I give it props for trying to use elements from both the original film and King's story; plus as a surprising bonus the main theme from the original film returns too.

I forgot that I watched this one late night recently until I saw a review from a fellow Flixtorian. Wish I had more to add but I agree with his review. The movie holds more true to the book but the original is far superior. (Maybe because as a kid it freaked me out). The adults are far less sympathetic and a darker tale is told. The inter-weaving of the book and original movie are the only reason this gets an ok review.
