what parents need to know

Parents need to know that this movie includes brief strong language and extreme prolonged peril, with the violent death of many major characters.

what families can talk about

  • Families can talk about whether the vision of the future it portrays could possibly become reality, and about how the discoveries of important scientists have been considered heretical. They may want to talk about the motivation of the General. Was he just acting out of rage at the loss of his family?

Top Critic Reviews

Rotten: Sooner or later, viewers have to ask themselves: If they were to do this film with live actors, would it be worth seeing?

- Bob Graham, San Francisco Chronicle, Wednesday, July 11, 2001

Rotten: It's a paradox--it's at once exhilarating yet exhausting, thrilling yet boring, masterful yet banal.

- Christopher Smith, Bangor Daily News (Maine), Thursday, June 24, 2010

Rotten: Has the stolidness of a video game, from which it is derived.

I think I saw this. It obviously wasn't too memorable though, even though the effects were top notch.

Cool, you can make almost photo-realistic computer animated characters. Now try to invest that time in a better script. And by script i don't mean the Aliens fanfic someone wrote on weekends.
