Another specimen in the Coen gallery of fascinating, eccentric characters, the "Dude" easily wins our sympathy thanks mostly to Bridges, who shines alongside Goodman in a very funny and engaging story.

This is by far one of the best comedies ever made. The Coen Brothers have crafted one terrific film with The Big Lebowski. A terrific cast is assembled here, and the characters are eccentric and unforgettable. A true Cult classic in its own right, The Big Lebowski is a terrific film filled with laughs, bowling and White Russians. This is one of my favorite films. Some people say that Old School is better, but those people have the intelligence of a 1 year old. This is a film that has stood the test of time, and The Lebowski Fest proves it Following in the success of Fargo, The Coen Brothers .have created one of the most memorable films. The Big Lebowski is memorable for many reasons. One is The Dude, one of the greatest film characters ever. Why you ask? I'll tell you why, Jeff Bridges is hilarious in the role, and he brings such charisma to the character, that you cannot easily dismiss him. I feel sorry for people who hate The Dude, he probably doesn't abide by the haters anyways. Another reason this film is great is all the eccentric characters besides The Dude. The Coen Brothers have an awesome eye for terrific, talented actors. With the case with The Big Lebowski, they've definitely assembled some of the finest casts since Fargo and Raising Arizona. Theres not a single actor that plays a weak character. Ever character here is enjoyable in some eccentric way. They all deliver something great here. One of best and most memorable performances of all is John Goodman as Walther Sobchak. Goodman makes this film even better. Every scene he's in is memorable. My favorite scene is the one we're he fucks up the corvette, and screams to Larry "This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!" A most humourous scene. The Big Lebowski is a most unique comedy film and I've watched it numerous times, and the film never gets old. Every time I watch, the jokes are still funnier and seem refreshing, they never get old, like most comedies. I think thats one of the main appeal of the Coen Brothers, their Dark comedies, always stand the test of time because after all, they're great filmmakers and know how to not overdo comedic elements of a film. Their films are funny because they don't try to overdue their films and their casts are always top notch actors that can hold up a film. Thats what makes films like this great, good actors+great directors+comedy= One memorable film that will stand the test of time. The Big Lebowski status is proof of that. A true comedy with real laughs.
